Together with Dr Simon Feros from Deakin University, we are presently investigating the relationship between people's interest in health and fitness and touristic decisions.
Stage A of the project was to investigate whether people's perception of their strength and cardio fitness was realistic. We worked with parkrun Ballarat to test participants through the 'beep' test and single leg squats. |
Beep testParticipants were sent in different groups to determine how many times they could 'race the beep' to get individual's beep test score, which allowed us to calculate an estimated VO2max for each participant.
|
Single leg squatsParticipants were first shown as a group how to correctly perform a single leg squat and had the opportunity to practice as a group. Participants were then individually observed and filmed to determine technique.
|
Beep test finalsSome of the best runners were capable of achieving very high scores on the beep test.
