4. Assessment Task Four – MAJOR REPORT
Due Date: Monday 1st June 2009 (in class)
Weighting: 30% written report (+ 10% oral presentation)
Format: Report & oral presentation
Length: 2,000 words (approximately) plus your own video clips and images uploaded onto facebook through iphones (handed out on loan for use for this unit).
Description: Write a report that discusses the future of Sovereign Hill and what it needs to do in order to address the future issues as expected in 2030. Your report needs to be based on having undertaken the following research tasks:-
a) A field trip to Sovereign Hill. Access passes will be made available for you to allow you free entry into Sovereign Hill. You need to make your own arrangements as to when you go – you can choose your own day (week day or weekend) and stay for as long as you like and either go alone or with your own travel party. In your report you need to provide a justification for why you selected the day, date and time, how long you stayed, and outline the make-up of your travel party. Your assessment of the attraction may be influenced by what day of the week or peak / off-peak season you select and you will need to address this point in your report.
b) Use of an iphone (that will be provided to you by your Lecturer for use for this unit’s major assessment piece) through taking your own still images and video footage to reinforce or illustrate key points from within your report.
c) Use of a means to enable class viewing of your video footage/s and images (eg facebook) to support your written report and oral presentation. You are encouraged to use key images in your power point presentation and written report, and a short video segment in your oral presentation, but access must be provided to an online forum to allow viewing by the class, Sovereign Hill representative/s, and lecturer.
d) Linkages throughout your report and oral presentation with the text and other relevant material that addresses futurology in tourism.
Your report should be typed on single A4 sheets, and presented in a way that uses professionalism and creativity.
